Did you notice the languages scribed on the first image of 2 annas.They are hindi,urdu,bengali and telugu.I guess the reason for choosing those languages is by the majority of languages spoken in India.By order they are hindi,bengali and telugu.After independence our government started printing 13 languages on currency notes ,limiting hindi and english only to coins.

dude u forgot URDU...if u see closely 1840 coin of 1 rupee has only URDU apart from English.. it means in those URDU is largest spoken language.... and need not to say URDU and HINDI or 2difernet languages.....

thanks for the info news, i was really surprised looking at the stats of bengali. but good to see about telugu - if that given much importance then why the hell it was mixed with tamilians and they still argue tamil is the most spoken language next to hindi. What ever no issues truth was truth in all ages and in all aspects. bring more like this.

may be u didnt see what i said....i said in THOSE DAYS...... I MEANT EARLY .19 CENTURY.... AS U CAN u see the coin of 1 rupee has URDU in pic .....
